Commercial Deck and Patio Builder in the Parkland Region

We build durable commercial deck and patio structures with clean railings and materials chosen for traffic and longevity, permitted and built to code.

Overview

Commercial Decks done right for Alberta conditions

When you need a commercial deck that can handle daily foot traffic, harsh Alberta winters, and the weight of seasonal snow, you want a builder who knows the local code and the climate inside out. Haylo Contracting, owned and operated by Scott Pinder with more than fifteen years of hands-on experience, has been delivering permitted, code-compliant decks across Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, Parkland County, Edmonton and the wider Tri-Region since 2022. Every project starts with a conversation about how you use the space, what loads you expect, and what finish will keep the surface looking sharp for years.

The first step is a thorough site assessment where we measure grades, locate utilities, and confirm soil conditions so the footing design matches the frost depth required by the Alberta Building Code. From there we prepare a detailed layout that includes stair locations, landing sizes, and railing heights that meet commercial occupancy standards. Because we handle the permit application and coordinate every inspection, you stay focused on your business while we keep the paperwork moving through the municipal office.

Foundations are the backbone of any deck that will survive freeze-thaw cycles, so we install either concrete piles driven to the required frost depth or poured footings that extend below the maximum frost line for the region. This approach prevents heaving and settlement that can crack boards or loosen connections over time. The footings are tied to a pressure-treated or steel framing system that is sized for the anticipated live load, whether the deck serves a restaurant patio, a retail entrance, or a multi-unit residential common area.

For the walking surface we select commercial-grade decking that resists moisture, UV exposure, and heavy wear. Options include high-density composite boards that won’t splinter, rot, or fade, or premium pressure-treated lumber sealed with a penetrating oil finish for a natural look that still meets durability requirements. Fasteners are stainless-steel or hot-dipped galvanized to eliminate corrosion, and joist spacing follows the engineer’s calculations so the deck feels solid underfoot even during peak traffic periods.

Railings and access points are fabricated to the exact heights and graspable dimensions dictated by the code, using powder-coated aluminum or galvanized steel that stands up to salt, ice, and constant handling. Stairs are built with consistent rise and run, slip-resistant treads, and handrails that run the full length of each flight. Every connection is inspected on site before the final municipal sign-off, giving you confidence that the structure meets both safety and longevity expectations.

Because we are an owner-operated crew, the same people who design your deck are the ones who frame it, install the decking, and walk the site with the inspector. That continuity means clear communication at every stage, no hand-off surprises, and a single point of contact from start to finish. When the final inspection passes and the site is cleaned, you walk onto a deck that feels stable, looks professional, and is ready for the next season of business.
